Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has shifted his attention to reorganisation of districts in Telangana State. He is planning to increase the number of the districts from existing 10 to 24 within the next six months.

At a review meeting held with heads of various departments here at Secretariat on Friday, KCR discussed the issue of reorganisation of districts and about geographical parameters of various districts and what would be the best option before the government.

It may be mentioned here that this was one of the main promises made by the TRS in its election manifesto. The party averred that better administration could be possible only if larger districts were divided into two or three depending upon the extent of areas. Interestingly he made an announcement in this regard at a joining programme at Telangana Bhavan, which was organised soon after this meeting. He said that Khammam would be divided into two districts, with Kothagudam to be made a new district.

He also enquired with officials about progress of digitisation of survey details, clearance of files and others.
