Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) decision to give up activities to strengthen the party in Telangana State threw a wet blanket on its leaders and cadres in the region.

YSRCP leaders from Telangana are now planning to call it quits by next week and even served a sort of ultimatum to party’s top brass in Andhra Pradesh.

A senior leader told The Hans India that party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy seems to have given up his plans to revive the party in Telangana and feels that it has no political space left in view of the fast changing equations.

Jagan had not held even a single meeting with the YSRCP’s Telangana unit after the general elections. All that he had done was to constitute a 12-member Telangana Committee inducting all the senior leaders. He is not at all serious about party's future in Telangana and is unable to wipe out the general feeling that YSRCP is anti-Telangana, according to sources. The party had secured 3.4 percent of votes and had won one MP and three MLAs from Khammam district. Disappointed over the party's performance, some of the party leaders had already quit the party recently.

Since then Jagan seems to have completely lost interest in the Telangana unit of the party. Source said party's Telangana committee members had told Jagan that they now saw a bleak political future if they continued in YSRCP and questioned the party high command for being a mute spectator of people’s issues when other parties were launching agitations against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.
