Hyderabad: Following reports that the ‘108’ ambulance services have come to a halt in the State due to severe shortage of fuel and some issues with the management GVK EMRI,

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday intervened in the matter and made it clear that the service should not be hindered at any cost.

As a result, more than 300 ambulance services have resumed emergency services, barring only 10 vehicles which are under repair.

A press release issued by the government stated that the Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure that all ambulances render medical services and not stall them, citing any reasons. In this regard, the Chief Minister also held a review meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah, NRHM Director Dr Kalpana and Family Welfare Commissioner Kishore on the situation.

At the meeting, the CM was informed that there are 316 ambulances across the State and of them only 70 stopped the operations. He then questioned the GVK representatives why they resorted to such a measure. He told them that payment of arrears to the management was not made in time by the government of the united State and they would have to issue a special GO to make the payments. He asked them to bring any issue to his notice and not curtail the operations. Dr Rajaiah said that since the formation of the new State, payments were being made to the management. After the meeting, the GVK officials announced resumption of the services.
