Several cities participating in the XI Metropolis World Congress in the city on Wednesday evinced keen interest for bilateral relations with the city of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Several cities participating in the XI Metropolis World Congress in the city on Wednesday evinced keen interest for bilateral relations with the city of Hyderabad.

Stating this at a media briefing, GHMC Special Commissioner Pradyumna said Telangana State Minister for IT KT Rama Rao, GHMC Mayor and Commissioner held separate meetings with the mayors of different participating cities on the sidelines of the Congress. He said several areas of mutual interest were identified. The sectors include urban transport and investment.

Delegation led by KT Rama Rao had also met the president of the metropolis Jean Paul Huchon from France. Later, the IT Minister held talks with the Deputy Mayor of Berlin from Germany, Barbara Berninger, and exchanged views on the mutual areas in which both can work together. Primarily the working areas identified were like Smart Cities, Information Technology and others. The IT Minister had also impressed upon Barbara that Hyderabad would be the most suitable place for the German companies to invest, and both agreed to work towards this end in the coming years.

Another city that had evinced interest in the bilateral relationship was Mashhad from Iran. The Mayor of the city of Mashhad, Solat Motazavi, along with some officials from cultural, trade and urban affairs discussed the possible areas of cooperation with KTR.

The TS IT Minister said IT companies in Telangana State could invest in IT sector in Mashhad. Mayor of the Johannesburg Parks Tau, Mayor of Sao Paulo from Brazil Rovena, Mayor of Barcelona Xavier Trias were among those with whom KTR held bilateral discussion for possible cooperation.
