Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be monitoring the progress Telangana Drinking Water Grid project from the comforts of his chambers in Secretariat very soon. As part of this, Telangana government is in the process of installing a special software which will enable the CM to assess works on daily basis and give necessary directions to respective district administrations. Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who conducted a meeting on water grid project here on Friday, desired the project to be built on par with international standards and suggested authorities to seek expression of interest from reputed agencies for primary survey.

“The primary survey of the entire project should commence from end of October. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of various districts should get ready as early as possible and DPR of Nalgonda should be completed first since Chief Minister is keen on launching this project from the fluoride-affected district,” KTR said.

KTR told them to prepare an appraisal report, and take necessary actions to float a separate entity to oversee the water grid project. The officials were also asked to consider a field tour to study the existing water grid and e-panchayat system in Guajarat. Further, Minister instructed authorities to hold a joint meeting with Irrigation and Road & Building engineers next week. Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Raymond Peter and Additional Secretary to CM, Smita Sabharwal, besides higher officials of rural water supply and Panchayat Raj took part.
