Hyderabad: The state government’s allergy towards Andhra leaders was evident on Wednesday as the Chief Minister of Telangana State K Chandrasehekar Rao refused to mention the name of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy while making a statement on the attempted kidnap incident of an industrialist at KBR Park on Wednesday morning.

Reacting to the demand of opposition in Assembly over the incident, Chief Minister said that it was a fact that some kind of shooting took place at the Park in Banjara Hills. When one of his associates prompted saying that it was Brahmananda Reddy Park, Rao quipped, “We don’t mention that name.”

Brahmananda Reddy was the Chief Minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh from 29 February 1964 to 30 September 1971. On 3 June 1977, he was elected president of the Indian National Congress. He is credited with creating the Industrial infrastructure in and around Hyderabad. As Congress president he expelled Indira Gandhi from Indian National Congress. During his regime of seven years (the longest for any Congress chief minister in Andhra Pradesh), many major industries like BHEL, HMT, IDPL, Hindustan Cables and several defence establishments like MIDHANI, Bharath Dynamics were established.
