Opposition feels precious time getting wasted in Assembly

Hyderabad: Opposition parties are getting vexed up with the continuation of verbal duel between TDP deputy floor leader A Revanth Reddy and ruling TRS members since the beginning of Assembly budget session. Few parties felt that TRS was dragging the issue a bit far after repetition of similar scenes in House on Thursday.

When Revanth stood up to speak during calling attention debate on DLF land in Gachibowli, TRS members stood up and sought an apology from the TDP leader for misleading House on power issue. Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao requested Speaker not to allow Revanth to speak until he tendered an apology. TRS has no objections if any other member of TDP spoke in the Assembly, he added. However, pandemonium prevailed on forcing Speaker to adjourn House for 30 minutes.

Speculations did rounds in the break that Speaker might bar Revanth from taking part in House proceedings for at least few months similar to action taken against five Congress MLAs in Maharashtra. Media in lobbies tried to get reaction of opposition parties on the issue and how would they deal if government proposed such an action.

Suspending a member for a prolonged period would set a bad precedent, a Former Minister from Congress observed. We cannot be a party to this, the leader said. What is the guarantee that government will not take such an action against any Congress member for cornering it in the future, the Congress leader asked.

Meanwhile, MIM party felt that TRS was reading too much into Revanth Reddy's statements and making a big issue which indirectly offered a chance to TDP leader to grab limelight in the last week. It is duty of the ruling party to correct any member if his information was not correct. The government should realise that precious time to discuss matters of public importance was getting wasted due to this.

On the other hand, BJP felt that TDP leader was not being given chance to express his opinion. The concerned member was sticking to his statements on power and was trying to put forth his views, but TRS members were not allowing him, a BJP leader opined.
