Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao approved the file for setting up of Telangana State Minimum Wages Advisory Board on Wednesday.

The committee will be headed by Manda Sadanandam Goud and consist of representatives of different industry bodies and trade unions. Sadanandam Goud belonging to Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) is believed to be close to Labour Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy.

V Anil Reddy (FAPCCI), Uma Devaguptapu (CII), Dr K Selvaraj, P Penta Reddy (Laser Shaving India Limited), Bhoopal (CITU), D Bhikshapathi (INTUC), Raj Reddy (BMS), T Narasimhan (AITUC-Telangana), P Narsaiah (HMS) and P Narayana (TRSKV) are also to be part of the committee.

There is no advisory board for minimum wages since the last seven years. As a result, employees working in 40 sectors out of the total 73 were getting meagre wage when compared to cost of living that increased several notches in the last few years.

CITU (Centre of Indian Trade Union) state secretary Bhoopal expressed hope that Telangana government would take into considerations the recommendations of the panel before deciding on final wages unlike in previous years when it functioned just as a decorative body.

He exuded confidence that labourers working in 73 sectors would get justice in the new State.
