Zaheerabad: Former Minister and local MLA J Geeta Reddy on Sunday exhorted the Congress workers to strive for strengthening the party. She urged the activists to sink their differences and work for the party.

Speaking at a function, organised on the occasion of membership enrolment drive here, Geeta Reddy pointed out that the TRS government had failed in implementing welfare schemes for the poor. Even the “Asara” introduced by the government was not being implemented properly.

The people were living under the shadow of fear in the State. The poor and downtrodden were denied pensions and even ration cards, she said. This had made the lives of the poor misery, she pointed out. Former Minister Sunita Lakshma Reddy appealed to the party workers to conduct door-to-door campaign during the membership enrolment drive. Former MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar, DCCB chairman M Jaipal Reddy, former Zilla Parishad chairman Sunita Patil and others took part.
