Khammam: Leaders of 10 Left parties demanded that the State government should provide an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to each of the families of farmers who had committed suicide unable to bear the debt burden. The ‘Raithu Bharosa Bus Yatra’ of the Left parties reached Khammam district on Tuesday. The representatives of the 10 parties consoled family members of farmer T Babu who had committed suicide at M Venkatayapalem village in the district. Later, speaking at a meeting organised in the village, leaders of the Left parties pointed out that 565 farmers had committed suicide in the State after the TRS formed the government. They expressed concern over the State government failing to take any initiative to support the families of farmers. They wondered why the government failed to announce ex gratia to the families of the farmers who had committed suicide. The Left parties demanded that the government should declare the drought-hit mandals.
