Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday reiterated that Siddipet would be developed into a district. Addressing different meetings during his tour to Karimnagar and Medak district, the Chief Minister announced several sops for Siddipet.
- Says it will be developed into a district
- Announces `2 crore for promoting tourism
Besides spending Rs 4.8 crore for modernisation of Komati Cheruvu, Rs 2 crore would be spent to promote tourism. He said a filter bed would be constructed near the lake which would provide drinking water to the entire Siddipet constituency. He also assured that Siddipet would get better train connectivity in near future. The Chief Minister, along with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials, also inspected the Lift-cum-Gravity scheme at Maniar Dam of Karimnagar.
Earlier, addressing a meeting at Siddipet, KCR recalled the difficulties that were faced to supply drinking water to Siddipet. He said it took nearly 16-17 years to supply water to 145 villages in the constituency, which was a critically high place. He said the Siddipet model could be replicated in implementation of Water Grid project which aims to provide tap water to all households across Telangana.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to work seriously on the project and turn it into a reality. “We will work day and night and we will show to the world the might of Telangana,” he said, adding that he alone could not achieve the goal unless he gets the support from the officials. He assured that funds would not be a problem for the implementation of Water Grid project which has been given top priority by the State government.
“I am so confident of completion of this project that I have promised on the floor of Assembly, and that I would not seek votes if all households in the State do not get tap water before next elections,” he said. KCR also praised his nephew and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and described him as a precious pearl.
Later, KCR performed puja at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple and also participated in the golden jubilee celebrations of Servants Home. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers’ Mehmood Ali and Dr T Rajaiah, Ministers Eatala Rajender, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Naini Narasimha Reddy, T Harish Rao, T Padma Rao, Jagadish Reddy, Mahender Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, MP K Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs Sudhakar Reddy and Farooq Hussain.
