Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown against anti-social elements, the Cyberabad Police launched a ‘cordon and search’ operation in different areas under Madhapur zone and took 14 offenders into custody in the early hours of Sunday.

During the ‘cordon and search’ operation, a team headed by DCP (Madhapur) Karthikeyan and Additional DCP (Crimes) B Srinivas Reddy, and comprising of two ACPs, 20 inspectors, 56 SIs, 54 ASI/HC, SOT, and CCS staff participated in the operation detained as many as 14 offenders were taken into custody for questioning.

The team raided places at Yellammabanda, PJR Nagar and Guru Gobind Singh Colony under KPHB police station limits and confiscated 56 motorbikes, 12 auto-rickshaws and four cars during the drive.

Addressing a meeting on Saturday at his office, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police C V Anand said some areas were identified based on the number of ex-convicts, dossier criminals, rowdy sheeters and suspects and also inputs from the crime staff. Crime records revealed a few pockets in Madhapur zone had become haven for criminals, he said. “The mission of this operation is to identify history sheeters like suspects, known depredators, dossier criminals, house burglars, and foreigners, etc,” the CP said.

Anand further added that Cyberabad police would continue these types of operations in Cyberabad limits to meet world class policing standards and to induce sense of security to the citizens.
