Bhadrachalam: As part of Vaikunta Ekadasi Adyayanotsavams, Lord Rama gave darshan to devotees in Parasurama Avataram at Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple here on Saturday. The Adyayanotsavams are being grandly organised at the temple from December 22.

The Lord in Parasurama Avataram was taken in a procession from the main temple to Midhila stadium amidst accompaniment of traditional music, with devotees chanting of Rama Naama renting the air and women devotees taking part in kolattam. Legend has it that the Lord was born to Jamadagni Maharshi and Renuka and came to be known as Parasurama.

He received an axe after undertaking severe penance to please Shiva who, in turn, taught him the martial arts. Parasurama beheaded his mother following the directions of his father. However, on his request, Jamadagni restored his mother to life. King Kartaviryarjuna killed Parasurama’s father Jamadagni.

In an act intended to avenge the killing of his father, Parasurama killed Kshatriya ruler Kartaviryarjuna. Later, he waged 21 battles against cruel Kshatriya kings and killed them. Those facing problems due to Sukra Graha, believe that they would get benefitted if they worshipped Lord Parasurama.
