Khammam: Contract workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) under the aegis of trade unions launched 48-hour strike from Monday demanding regularisation of their services and implementation of wage revision. Speaking to the media at the party office, CPI (ML) New Democracy district secretary Potu Ranga Rao came down heavily on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not fulfilling his poll promises made to SCCL workers.

He asked the Telangana government to regularise services of contract workers and sought implementation of wage revision, and reduce work burden.

Potu Ranga Rao has alleged that the police were arresting trade union leaders to dilute the strike. He warned the police with serious agitations if they tried to stop strike forcibly.

CPI district secretary B Hemanta Rao, CPI (M) district secretary Pothineni Sudarshan, Indian National Trade Union Congress leader Madhava Rao and Left party leaders were present.

Sattupalli: Contract workers have staged dharna in front of the SCCL project office here on Monday as part of 48-hour strike call given by the trade unions.

Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) district secretary Lingayya alleged that management of SCCL did not implement ninth wage revision agreement for the past two years. The CITU leader also alleged that the SCCL was not extending bonus and other allowances to the contract staff.

Kothagudem: Contract workers organised a demonstration in front of the SCCL main office here on Monday. Later, they staged a dharna seeking SCCL management to fulfill their demands. Speaking on the occasion, All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Vasireddy Seetharamaiah said that all provisions given to contract staff of Coal India should be extended to contract workers of SCCL.

Godavarikhani (Karimnagar): Contract staff working in Ramagundam area participated in the strike on Monday demanding management of SCCL to regularise their services.

Outsourcing works came to halt with the workers went on strike.
