Induction of Tummala into Cabinet irks lone TRS MLA’s followers

Hyderabad: Efforts made by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to bring rapprochement between the two warring groups led by Tummala Nageswara Rao and Jalgam Venkat Rao in Khammam seems to have fructified. KCR had taken both Tummala and Jalagam to Kerala along with him where they would visit forest research centre at Kochi on Sunday and a few Gulf centres assisting Keralites pursuing career and jobs in the Gulf. He also announced that the Parliamentary secretaries would get Cabinet status. This has resulted in narrowing the differences between both the groups.

Jalagam followers, who were unhappy with the TRS government appointing their leader Venkata Rao as the Parliamentary Secretary instead of inducting him into the Council of Ministers, were on a high after the State government accorded Cabinet status to all the Parliamentary Secretaries. Venkata Rao assumed charge as the Parliamentary Secretary at the Secretariat and was attached to the Chief Minister’s Office.

They were of the opinion that their leader was not given due recognition by the party leadership despite Venkata Rao being the only legislator got elected from the district. Jalagam Venkata Rao, the scion of Jalagam Vengala Rao, got elected from Kothagudem becoming the first and the only TRS legislator from the district. It obviously raised hopes of Jalagam’s followers that he would find a place in the first Cabinet of KCR.
