Nizamabad: BC Welfare Association national president R Krishnaiah on Saturday alleged that political parties were treating BCs as a mere vote bank during elections and later ignoring their welfare. He was the chief guest at the BC students ‘Shankhaaravam’ meeting held here.

Krishnaiah came down heavily on the State government for not releasing the fee reimbursement dues despite coming to power seven months ago. “The TRS government had even failed to launch the Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme,” he said.

The BC leader expressed anguish that students are facing difficulties as the state government failed to release Rs 850 crore dues towards fee reimbursement scheme. “We will exert pressure on state government to launch FAST scheme as early as possible,” he added. He stated that series of dharnas will be staged and state-wide bandh will be called very soon demanding the government to release pending fee reimbursement dues.
