Hyderabad: The Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti staged a protest at NTR Stadium on Sunday, demanding the Union government to immediately place the census data of 2011 before the people.

A Samiti press release here on Sunday pointed out that the data disclosure has been delayed for four years.

It alleged that the earlier Congress-led UPA had wilfully suppressed the census information from the people. The Samiti has also demanded the government to review the criteria and definition for minority status, in the wake of the 2011 census data, and take steps for immediate implementation of Common Civil Code.

It has also reminded the government claiming that the High Court of Allahabad had expressed the need to decide once for all what exactly the term 'minority' means, and the “High Court also clarified that Muslims are no more the minority in the nation”. Also, the Supreme Court has stated thrice the need for implementing Common Civil Code. And, for these reasons, the government should take necessary action immediately by considering the views expressed by the courts, the Samiti added.
