Hyderabad: Even before the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has finalised the syllabus for Groups examinations, several coaching centres in and around Hyderabad have already launched operation minting money on the pretext of coaching in accordance with the TSPSC syllabus.

  • Teaching institutes claim to have secured syllabus for Group examinations
  • TSPSC says it has yet to frame pattern

Since the time Telangana State came into existence, millions of youth have high hopes of landing up government jobs. Cashing in on this sentiment, several coaching centres in Ashoknagar, Dilshuknagar, Ameerpet, Secunderabad and Musheerabad have started wooing potential aspirants promising TSPSC syllabus. The irony is that the syllabus is yet to be announced but the gullible students are making a beeline to these so-called ‘highly qualified’ centres.

In what is described as “broad daylight robbery,” most coaching centres charge anywhere between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh depending on the competitive examination a candidate chooses. “I enrolled when I was reassured that I would be taught the TSPSC syllabus. It was only later I came to know that the syllabus is yet to be released by the Commission. When I confronted the centre’s management, I was told that they would begin the moment the syllabus is changed.

I should curse myself for my carelessness,” said Vijay Kumar, who joined a prominent coaching centre that runs classes from morning to evening in Ashoknagar. The coaching centres have adopted hi-tech techniques to circulate messages to students on a day-to-day basis stating that the coaching would be in accordance with the Commission Syllabus. The irony is that TSPSC Chairman Prof Ghanta Chakrapani was also not spared. He himself once stated that he had received a message on his personal number from a coaching centre located in Malakpet.

Several aspirants across the State are misled by the false propaganda unleashed by the coaching centres. While the Commission is yet to get their official website, a few centres have already designed and hosted fake websites of the Commission with recruitment notifications and syllabus. The exasperated Commission chairman has cautioned against getting fooled by the contents on the fake website as the Commission was yet to get its official website.

After complaints that some centres have started conducting classes in crammed and less than hygienic rooms, High Court Advocate Soma Raju filed a petition in the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) over the gross violation of safety measures by the coaching centres. The SHRC which took the petition issued notice to the Commissioner Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Police Commissioner to submit the Action Taken Report on the errant centres and submit a report by February 17.
