Lawyers, cops spar over SI’s ‘rude’ behaviour

Mancherial (Adilabad): Tense situation prevailed for some time when advocates and police personnel jostled with each other on the court premises of the senior civil judge here on Tuesday over a Sub-Inspector’s alleged misbehavior with the former.
Lawyers were staging relay hunger strike on the court premises for the past few days demanding separate High Court for Telangana State. Advocates organised flash protest alleging that SI Venkateswarlu behaved rudely with them when they were boycotting courts. A scuffle broke out between advocates and policemen. They demanded the state government to suspend the SI. A senior lawyer, K Latchanna, alleged that the judges and advocates, who belong to Andhra Pradesh, were insulting advocates of Telangana region. He demanded the Telangana government to send back judges and advocates of Andhra Pradesh to their respective regions. He made an appeal to the leaders of all political parties to extend support to their relay hunger strike.
