“Despite setbacks in the general elections, the Communist parties are in the forefront of agitation against the rulers for their ‘anti-people’ policies,” Rao said, referring to movements such as land for poor.

Khammam: Former CPI legislator Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao on Thursday said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao, with his ‘dictatorial’ rule, was distancing himself from the people, while the Congress, Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party were on ‘ventilator’ and on the verge of collapse. Addressing a press conference here, he accused the BJP, TRS and the TDP of shirking their responsibilities towards the welfare of the people and supporting corporate business houses. He predicted that the Left parties had a bright future in the two Telugu-speaking States – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh – as the governments in these States failed to work for the welfare of the people.

“Despite setbacks in the general elections, the Communist parties are in the forefront of agitation against the rulers for their ‘anti-people’ policies,” Rao said, referring to movements such as land for poor. He said efforts were on to bring Left parties under one roof to exert pressure on the government to take up welfare-oriented programmes that help deprived sections in society. This would be discussed in the ensuing State conference of CPI to be held from March 7, he added. CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, district secretariat member Potu Prasad and Sk Johny Miya were present.
