The Communist Party of India (CPI) is all geared up for its first Telangana State Conference which will begin here on Saturday. The four-day meetings will commence with the Party’s national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy unveiling the statue of Comrade Mohammad Razab Ali at Nayudupet Junction.

Later, the CPI activists led by their leaders will take out a huge rally from the Pavilion Grounds to Sardar Patel Stadium. The State conference will be attended by State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, senior leaders Md. Moulana, Puvvada Nageswara Rao, Siddi Venkateswarlu, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, T V Chowdary and Bagam Hemanth Rao.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said the conference will focus on the issues faced by the people and the anti-policies adopted by the Central and State governments. “The party will also discuss about the role played by the Communists to sensitise people about what is going on around them,” Reddy said.

He accused the governments of both the Telugu-speaking States of wasting time by targeting each other rather than focusing on problems faced by the people. “Time is up for the regional parties,” he said, expressing confidence that the Communists will rise to the occasion though they suffered a setback in the last general elections.
