Left parties demand justice to tribals
Seeking justice for the Podu cultivators, the leaders of Left parties on Wednesday met the District Collector K Ilambarthi and Joint Collector D Divya and sought their intervention to ensure that the Forest Officials do not commit atrocities against on tribal people.Recalling that the previous governments promised to confer rights on forest lands on tribal people,
Khammam: Seeking justice for the Podu cultivators, the leaders of Left parties on Wednesday met the District Collector K Ilambarthi and Joint Collector D Divya and sought their intervention to ensure that the Forest Officials do not commit atrocities against on tribal people.Recalling that the previous governments promised to confer rights on forest lands on tribal people, the leaders demanded that the TRS government issue pattas to them immediately.
They alleged that the State government had hatched a plan to snatch the lands being tilled by the tribals in the garb of improving the forest cover under Harita Haram programme. “The attacks on Adivasis are inhuman,” they said, accusing the lower rung officials of misrepresenting the facts to their higher-ups. Producing a tribal woman, who was injured in Marrigudem (Chandrugonda mandal) incident, before the collector, the leaders demanded protection for the tribals. Responding to the leaders’ complaint, the Joint Collector D Divya assured them that he would conduct an inquiry.
