Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao’s Water Grid Project has run into problems due to the rigid standards linked to the tenders.

The rules fixed by the Government failed to receive participation from the big and experienced contractors to implement the project but in turn received bids from inexperienced and small contractors. However, they were cancelled due to the Government’s lack of confidence on them.

The tender-rules barred contractors who have applied for corporate debt restructuring and loan defaulting-contractors from participating in the bids. The big contractors have asked the government to relax the rules so as to submit bids and complete the project successfully.

KCR’s announcement in the assembly that TRS won’t seek votes in the next elections if Government fails to complete the Water Grid project and supply drinking water to all households by that time, might pave towards the relaxation of the rules for big contractors to submit their bids.
