Hyderabad: The Telangana government would review the designs of all the irrigation projects constructed under ‘Jalayagnam’ and other schemes in the erstwhile united AP and re-engineer them, if necessary. Taking cue from opposition leader K Jana Reddy’s demand to complete all the pending projects in the backward districts of Telangana in the Assembly on Friday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the government would convene a meeting with all legislators, representing the constituencies where the irrigation projects are either constructed or are in different stages, after the budget session.

In the united AP, Telangana was meted out injustice in the irrigation sector, he alleged. For this villages were submerged and farmers lost their lands in Telangana, he said asserted the ‘re-engineering of Telangana irrigation projects’ in the present situation.
The Chief Minister also said that several errors were found in the designs prepared for Pranahita–Chevella project and this was also confirmed by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during his meeting with him recently. Project-wise allocations in 2015-16 budget would be made only after studying the importance of the each project, he added.
