Initially, 45 MGD would be added and it would be followed by the remaining 45 MGD by June end, informed by M Jagadeeshwar. MD, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board Managing (HMWSSB here on Tuesday. The additional water would offset the loss at Osmansagar and bring relief to areas suffering from want of adequate water. The delay in water supply through tankers too would reduce considerably. The water system in areas such as Charminar, Jahanuma, Humayun Nagar, Asifnagar, Ziaguda, Gode-ki-khabar, Hindi Nagar, Chilkalguda, Adikmet, Borabanda, Kharkhana, Marredpally and Cantonment would be gradually stabilised.
The cost for pumping the additional water would be Rs 15 crore which the Water Board would bear. The reservoirs at Bandlaguda and Santoshnagar which were earlier connected, but could not be commissioned due to shortage of water, would now be commissioned said Jagadeeshwar. Similarly, reservoirs at Salala Barkas, Riyatsagar and Allabanda will be commissioned.
Supplies to acute water scarcity like Jagadirgutta, Qutbullpur, Shapur, Jeedimetla, Suraram, Balajinagar, Yadamnagar, Defence Colony, Safilguda, RK Puram, Out Colony, Kapra, Dr A S Rao Nagar, Moula Ali, Uppal, Ellugutta, Kailasgiri, Serilingampally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Kukatpally, LB Nagar would improve considerably said a senior official of Water Board.
