Manthani (Karimnagar): Unidentified persons vandalised the statue of former Assembly Speaker late D Sripada Rao at Baswapur village in Kataram mandal late on Wednesday night. Protesting against the vandalism, the Congress party gave bandh call in Manthani Assembly constituency on Thursday. As a precautionary measure, the police imposed prohibitory orders under Section-144 in Kataram mandal.Security was beefed up in sensitive places in the constituency to avoid untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, former minister D Sridhar Babu along with Congress party activists staged a rasta rako in Baswapur village on Thursday in protest against miscreants vandalising the statue of Congress leader and his father Sripada Rao. He came in a rally along with the Congress activists and took part in the protest. He demanded action against the culprits.
