Maoist arrested during combing.In a joint combing operation with the CRPF, the police on Thursday arrested a CPI-Maoist in Bhattigudem forest area in Khammam district.

Khammam: In a joint combing operation with the CRPF, the police on Thursday arrested a CPI-Maoist in Bhattigudem forest area in Khammam district.Addressing presspersons at Cherla, Bhadrachalam Assistant Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran said that the Maoist has been identified as Madivi Nandu alias Ramesh, 26, a native of Bhattigudem village in the mandal.

He said that Nandu was taken into custody late on Wednesday night. During a joint combing operation with the CRPF, the Cherla and Dummugudem police found Nandu moving suspiciously in Bhattigudem reserve forest area. On seeing the security forces, Nandu tried to escape from the scene. However, the police caught him after a chase.

During the interrogation, Nandu said that he had been working with the Cherla dalam since 2012. It’s learnt that he worked under Cherla LGS commander Kukkala Ganapathi.According to police, Nandu involved in the murder of Singaiah of Burgampadu, Korsa Chaithu of Chelimela and Mussaki Daraiah of Yerrampadu. He is also involved in several incidents of arson. The accused will be produced before the court, the police said.
