Hyderabad: Even as the Centre has pressed in National Investigation Agency (NIA) to nab three activists of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who escaped recently from jail, Telangana State Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy made shocking revelations that Hyderabad has no SIMI activities.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, the Home Minister admitted that the duo was SIMI activists as the Intelligence and police top-brass confirmed it. “There is no need to panic as we are living in peaceful atmosphere in Hyderabad which has no SIMI or terror activities,” he stated. Reddy also said search operations are on by five States to nab the three wanted SIMI activists in the districts.
However, the criticism is that he was uninformed by the police on the alleged SIMI links of the assailants. The police officials said to have failed to inform on time the Home Minister about the terror links of the assailants, who were shot dead at Jankipuram on Saturday. Meanwhile, DCP (South) V Satyanaryana organised a candlelight vigil on Monday evening near Charminar in the Old City to pay homage to the policemen who were killed in the line of duty in a police cross firing in Nalgonda district.
