Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has decided not to set up any examination centres in Andhra Pradesh State for EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) scheduled on May 14. Prof T Papi Reddy of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education informed that technically “it is not feasible to up centres in the AP State at this juncture.”

Keeping in mind the larger interests of its students, the Andhra Pradesh government had asked the Telangana government to set up test centres in their region. An official of TSCHE said off-record that there were security concerns for conducting the test in the neighbouring Telugu State. “Who will take responsibility for mass copying or high-tech copying that takes place in the examination centres? Some parts of AP are known for such cases earlier,” the official said.

Unlike Telangana government, which has decided against holding the test in AP region, the AP government is going ahead with arrangements for test centres in Hyderabad for AP students who are willing to appear for EAMCET conducted by AP. The AP government picked up central schools for conducting the test in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, over 2.4 lakh candidates have registered for the Telangana EAMCET. The last date for applying for the test is April 9.
