Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya met the Union Minister for Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan and sought to increase the Maximum Support Price (MSP) for the procurement of paddy from Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,800 per quintal on the grounds of excess moisture content.

New Delhi/Hyderabad: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya met the Union Minister for Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan and sought to increase the Maximum Support Price (MSP) for the procurement of paddy from Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,800 per quintal on the grounds of excess moisture content. Dattatreya informed that the farmers were desperate and they were forced to sell their produces at much lower price with no alternative.

Ram Vilas Paswan has assured that he would convene a meeting at Hyderabad and hold discussions with representatives of farmers’ association, representatives of millers’ association and other State government officials who are involved in the procurement of rice for Public Distribution System (PDS), and discuss every issue concerning the farmers.

He assured that a comprehensive policy would be drawn up to protect the interest of the farmers and other Stakeholders.When Dattatreya brought to Paswan’s notice about Food Corporation of India (FCI) of the united AP, the Minister also assured to bifurcate the office of Food Corporation of India for both the Telugu States.
