CM addresses folk artistes engaged for government programmes
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday stated that issues with Andhra Pradesh are far from over. He made this statement while referring to the neighbouring state seeking rights of State Gallery Building in Madhapur during distribution of assets and properties.
Chandrashekar Rao was speaking at a meeting organised under the aegis of Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi, a cultural body floated by the government to propagate and create awareness about welfare and developmental schemes, at Madhapur. Hundreds of folk singers and artistes, who have been hired by the government, took part in the programme along with Chairman Rasamayi Balakishan and others.
The Chief Minister made a mention of former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s claims that Telangana would become dark (without electricity) after bifurcation. “Now electricity is being supplied throughout the State without any cuts. Previously, legislators used to get dried up maize crops to Assembly to corner the government on power cuts. However, this practice is not seen this time around and all this is due to the strong resolve of the government,” he said.
Health insurance to folk singers
Lauding the role of folk singers in the statehood movement, Chandrashekar Rao announced health insurance cover to singers and their family members. These cultural groups, despite several threats and attacks for supporting the cause, never wavered from their path. It is a fact that folk singers were mainly responsible for achieving the goal of separate state, he said.
Terming them as torchbearers for Bangaru Telangana dream, the Chief Minister told them to act as a bridge between the government and the people. He called upon them to sensitise about advantages of government schemes such as Mission Kakatiya, Haritha Haaram among others. Also they should reach out to all sections, particularly Dalits and minorities, and instill confidence amongst them.
