Oggu artistes seek jobs, life cover
Nearly 300 \'Oggu\' artistes (folk artistes) were taken into custody by the Hyderabad city police when they staged protest at the main gate of Telangana Secretariat here on Monday.The artistes, hailing from different parts of Telangana, came in rally from Ravindra Bharati to the Secretariat and raised slogans against the State government.

Hyderabad: Nearly 300 'Oggu' artistes (folk artistes) were taken into custody by the Hyderabad city police when they staged protest at the main gate of Telangana Secretariat here on Monday.The artistes, hailing from different parts of Telangana, came in rally from Ravindra Bharati to the Secretariat and raised slogans against the State government.
Speaking to the media persons, noted artiste Chukka Sathaiah alleged that they were being discriminated by the State government. He demanded that all Oggu artistes be given jobs and health insurance facility on par with other artistes who have been enjoying the patronage of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. They also accused Sanskrithika Sarathi Chairman and TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan of favouring artistes belonging to Scheduled Castes only.
