A storm is brewing in Telangana Telugu Desam Party as Telugu Yuvatha on Monday put up posters in the TDP headquarters office here asking party president N Chandrababu Naidu to anoint the firebrand party leader A Revanth Reddy as president of the Telangana state unit. Revanth posters create flutter in party over leadership change
Hyderabad: A storm is brewing in Telangana Telugu Desam Party as Telugu Yuvatha on Monday put up posters in the TDP headquarters office here asking party president N Chandrababu Naidu to anoint the firebrand party leader A Revanth Reddy as president of the Telangana state unit. This has caused sensation in the party circles on Monday.
Though Revanth Reddy told the media that he has nothing to do with such posters and demanded that the party take stern action against the mischief mongers, political circles here feel that the stormy petrel who often launches sharp criticism against Chief Minister KCR and the TRS government was trying to outshine the party president as he feels that Naidu failed to give him the due importance during the recent public meeting at Palamur in Mahbubnagar district.
Naidu, it may be mentioned here, did not make any special mention of Revanth Reddy at the meeting. Unhappy over the manner in which Revanth was treated at the meeting, his supporters protested but Naidu refused to take note of it.However, another argument that is making rounds is that the TDP feels that it should bring all Reddys together as they happen to be a dominant political force in Telangana if the TDP were to emerge as a strong Opposition party.
The TDP has so far been banking on the BCs and hence it had made L Ramana as the party chief in the new state. But to resurrect the party and make it a political force, the party leadership is said to be of the opinion that it should encourage the politically strong Reddy group and hence Naidu had taken a decision to replace Ramana with Revanth Reddy and that was the reason why Naidu did not take cognisance of the protests at the public meeting.
The manner in which the posters appeared on Monday in the party headquarters and the fact that they were not removed indicate that a change in the leadership of Telangana unit is imminent, says another section in the party. The third theory in the party circles is that Naidu would replace E Dayakar Rao with Revanth Reddy as working president. If Naidu replaces Ramana, it could lead to the BCs moving away from the party, a senior leader said.
In fact, the news that is making rounds among the top party circles is that Naidu wants to be the national president of the TDP and have two state presidents. Revanth Reddy for Telangana and one of the seniormost leaders Kala Venkata Rao from Srikakulam as the AP TDP president. Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh will be the working president and would coordinate with both the state unit presidents, sources add.
