Women’s safety govt’s top priority: Minister
Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, on Thursday, said that the state government is giving top priority for the safety and security of the women. Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, on Thursday, said that the state government is giving top priority for the safety and security of the women. Speaking after launching Nirbhaya Centre (One Stop Crisis Centre) in the premises of government district hospital in Nalgonda town, the Minister recalled that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has set up a committee with IAS and IPS officers on women safety immediately after taking over the reins of administration.
He also pointed out that the SHE teams, which was set up by the state government to check eve-teasing, were also doing good work. Stating that eve-teasing cases have tremendously come down in Hyderabad city after setting up of SHE teams, he said that SHE teams were now operating in Nalgonda district also. The police officials of other states were visiting out state and studying SHE teams concept, he added.
The District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy said that legal, medical and psychological help would be extended to the victims of violence against women through Nirbhaya Centre. Even though stringent laws were in force, the incidents of violence against women were reported from different parts of the country. The women should united raise their voice against the incidents of violence, he added.
