Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday demanded a fair allocation of Krishna waters. Addressing media after the Cabinet meeting, he said that gross injustice was done to the State of Telangana in allocation of Krishna waters and that the government wants the Centre to review the allocation.
He said AP had originally got an allocation of 811 tmc and later it got additional 197 tmc. This is what the Telangana government is objecting to, he said. He said of the 197 tmc which has been given to AP, Telangana should get 100 tmc for drinking water purposes to the areas covered under Krishna water basin including 49 mandals that come under the purview of the HMDA.
The government’s contention is that the Palamuru lift irrigation project in Ranga Reddy district and Dindi project in Nalgonda should get 30 tmc of water, he added. KCR also strongly opposed the construction of Pattiseema project on Godavari River by AP government.
The Chief Minister said they should have consulted us before taking up the project since we are the upper riparian state. KCR said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was exploiting water resources allocated to Telangana by constructing illegal projects on Godavari River.
