Is Revanth going to be a scapegoat?

New Delhi: Is Revanth Reddy going to be the political sacrificial goat for the TDP? Going by the indications here the TDP leadership is all set to dump him to prevent N Chandrababu Naidu's name from being dragged into the case? If a compromise formula is to be evolved by the BJP in the eventuality of the Telangana government digging its feet in, then Revanth's interest could be at stake to protect Naidu, it is being said in political circles.

This indication gained further ground from what the AP ministers said at a press conference in Hyderabad on Wednesday. According to agencies, the ministers K Atchannaidu and Devineni Umamaheswar Rao said that the party has nothing to do with Revanth Reddy episode. The phone tapping and Revanth’s arrest are two different issues. “We have no relation with this”.

Revanth would be punished if he is guilty and he would come out unscathed if he is innocent. The matter is in the court, so it cannot be discussed further, they said. Political circles here feel that in the eventuality of Revanth becoming the sacrificial goat, there was every possibility of him turning into an approver.

They said that though no one can question the loyalty of Revanth towards TDP, the pressure on him was such that he may decide to turn approver. It may be mentioned here that the TRS government has been going soft on Revanth. All the criticism is directed towards the TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and not on Revanth.

None of the ministers including K T Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and T Srinivas Yadav had said anything against Revanth. Even Chandrasekhar Rao has been targeting only Naidu and not Revanth. Interestingly, the Nizamabad MP K Kavitha recently remarked that Revanth was Telangana bidda indicating that Naidu was firing his gun over the shoulder of Revanth in the cash-for-vote case.
