Every mandal and town should give impetus to the flagship programme to increase the green belt in the State. “Our aim is to expand greenery to a great extent and provide better future for posterity by attracting adequate rainfall to fill water bodies, ponds and lakes, he said.


He also asked them to involve Self-Help Groups and those working for employment guarantee scheme in the programme, the Minister said. Rama Rao also asked the district collectors to make us of cultural troupes for giving better publicity and wide coverage from June 25.


A number of artistes from Telangana Sanskrithika Sarathi would perform on the importance of the greenery and create awareness among the people. The collectors should make every effort to ensure that people participate voluntarily in the event. The government was planning to plant 230 crore saplings in the State and every mandal would get at least 10 lakh saplings, he added.
