Hyderabad: Telangana State medical contract employees and outsourcing employees affiliated to All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) in all government hospitals held a rally from Sundariya Vignan Kendra to Indira Park here on Monday. The employees threatened to go on indefinite strike from July 15. After the rally at the meeting outside Indira Park, they demanded that the government regularise their service, increase their salaries and number of holiday for them.

Addressing the meeting, Bhavani, Mahila state president of AITUC recalled that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, during his election campaign, promised to regularise the services of all contract and outsourcing employees. She urged the employees to be united in the fight and make the strike a success.

General secretary Narayana Murthy reminded the TRS of the role played by employees in helping it come to power and warned the government that the workers can oust it if their demand were not met. Sharmila, a representative from Gandhi Hospital, said all contract workers hoped for better days in the new State, but the Chief Minister went back on his promise. She said N Kiran Kumar Reddy, though a politician from Andhra, hiked salaries benefiting workers in Hyderabad.
