Tandur: The Bhoodan lands in survey Nos 97, 98, 99 and 100 in Peddamul mandal of Ranga Reddy district, allotted to poor Girijans during 1959-61 and being cultivated by about 20-33 families, have allegedly been grabbed by some unscrupulous persons. They are even putting up some permanent structures there.

The land-grabbers, after managing to hoodwink the poor Girijans, had taken control of the Bhoodan lands, getting them registered in their names. They are building permanent structures, including a solar power plant, after managing to secure local gram panchayat permission.

Although aware of the land-grabbing, the Revenue department officials feign ignorance of such developments. When contacted by The Hans India, Peddamul Tahsildar Prem Kumar admitted that lands in the survey Nos 97-100 were under occupation. But the official claimed that he was unaware of the construction activity there. However, the Tahsildar asserted that the department would stop the construction and take action against those responsible.
