Speaking to media persons in Mahabubnagar, the Minister said Rs 900 crore was allocated in the budget for completion of Bheema, Nettempadu, Koilsagar and Mahatma projects. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was committed for speedy completion of these projects, including Palamur lift scheme, he asserted.

“Though we have taken all steps and started land acquisition for Palamur-Ranga Reddy project, the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders were resorting to mudslinging activity,” he charged.

Jupally also accused the previous Congress government of looting funds meant for the project and involving in irregularities. Though it had to complete the project in 2008, if failed to complete the project which was pending for the past 30 years, he charged.

While the Centre had allocated Rs 1,100 crore for the project in 2010, the project was not completed by the successive governments which even failed to acquire the land for the purpose, the Minister pointed out.

Krishna Rao alleged that the Opposition parties began demanding the completion of these projects only during Telangana movement. He attributed Telangana statehood to the protracted struggle by K Chandrashekar Rao and the TRS.

The Chief Minister was committed to complete the Palamur project and others for irrigating agriculture lands, he added. Meanwhile, former minister DK Aruna launched a broadside against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on irrigation projects.

Talking to the media after a CLP meeting on irrigation projects and problems of farmers here on Sunday, Aruna challenged Chandrashekar Rao if he would ‘rub his nose to earth’ if he failed to complete the irrigation projects in three years.

Though the Chief Minister was repeatedly saying that he would complete the projects, the TRS government failed to release adequate funds in the last one year for pending projects in Mahbubnagar district, she charged.

She also accused Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao of going blind and deaf to the woes of the people on irrigation projects and other issues. If Harish had guts, he should come for an open debate on Palamur projects and the development done during the Congress regime, she challenged.

The government was making publicity stunt instead of releasing funds for the projects, Aruna alleged. She also took exception to Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao’s remarks against the Congress leaders. Aruna ridiculed Jupally for quitting the Congress for Telangana slogan and for throwing into jail the activists of Telangana movement.

The TRS government was least bothered about good governance as the leaders had become corrupt and was indulging in ‘chair power’, she charged. Aruna also claimed that Palamur district was developed when she was a minister.
