TRS, BJP leaders pay tributes to martyrs. Several political leaders and army officials paid rich tributes to the martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas at Parade grounds here on Sunday morning.

Hyderabad: Several political leaders and army officials paid rich tributes to the martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas at Parade grounds here on Sunday morning. Political leaders, including, BJP Telangana state president Kishan Reddy, BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao, Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Lieutenant General Manohar, Colonel Vikram and Major Ravindra Kaur paid tributes to the martyrs on the 16th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil war.
They recalled the heroic capture of tiger hills in Jammu and Kashmir in 1999. Kishan Reddy, addressing the soldiers, urged the State and Central governments to built old ages homes for the families whose kin sacrificed their lives in the war. Meanwhile, the ex-servicemen raised the demand of “One Rank One Pension” (OROP). “We are fighting for our rights, OROP is our right. We have been waiting patiently for a long time, now we will take to the streets,” said an ex-serviceman.
The Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, who was present at the meeting, said that the Telangana State government would help the bereaved families. He promised to ensure that the defence land issue at Jawaharnagar would soon be sorted out. The Deputy Chief Minister said he would discuss the subject with the Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao and direct the Ranga Reddy District Collector to give a detailed report.
