The Telangana State government on Wednesday launched subsidised onion sales counters in Rythu Bazaars across the State. Speaking after launching the sales counter, Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao said that as many as 86 centres had been opened to sell onion at subsidised price of Rs 20 per kg. Of them, 46 counters were opened in Hyderabad while 40 other centres were launched in other revenue divisions in the State.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government on Wednesday launched subsidised onion sales counters in Rythu Bazaars across the State. Speaking after launching the sales counter, Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao said that as many as 86 centres had been opened to sell onion at subsidised price of Rs 20 per kg. Of them, 46 counters were opened in Hyderabad while 40 other centres were launched in other revenue divisions in the State.


Harish Rao said 100 metric tonnes of onions would be sold through these centres. He said nearly 250 metric tonnes of onions had already been supplied to all the centres. Harish Rao said quality onion would be sold at all centres. He made it clear that the subsidised onion was meant only for families and not hotels. He said efforts were also being made to increase the production of onion in the State.
