FREEZING OF AP INTER BOARD ACCOUNTS

Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned to Thursday the matter relating to freezing of AP Intermediate Board accounts. The Telangana State government directed the State Bank of India, MJ Market branch, Hyderabad, to freeze the accounts of AP Intermediate Board after the division of the states.

The Telangana State government argued that the funds belonged to Telangana State and not Andhra Pradesh. A case was also filed by the Telangana State government in the High Court in this regard. The AP government contended that the action of the Telangana State government was illegal.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt expressed surprise at the way the accounts were frozen. The bench, at one point, called for the presence of Secretary Intermediate Board, Telangana State. When the bench was informed that the Telangana Advocate General was not in town, the matter was posted to Thursday.
