Mahabubnagar: Kodangal TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was arrested in the district during a function attended by Civil Supplies Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao. However, he was released later from Doultabad police station.

Revanth Reddy, who is the principal accused in the infamous ‘cash-for-vote’ case, was taken into custody when there was a mild tension during a foundation stone laying ceremony for Market Yard godown at Kodangal.

There was a commotion when the local MLA came to the venue, forcing the police to use force to disperse sloganeering TDP activists, who also pelted stones at the police personnel. The police arrested the TDP leaders, including Revanth Reddy and whisked them away to Doulatabad police station. TDP workers staged a sit-in in front of the police station demanding release of Revanth Reddy.

Speaking to media persons later, Revanth Reddy vowed to dislodge Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and would not sleep till then. He also alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to destroy TDP in Telangana State. Meanwhile, Telangana TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao condemned the arrest of Revanth Reddy.
