Hyderabad: The fresh demand of Andhra Pradesh government employees to extend dual nativity to their children by amending Article-371(d) is snowballing into a fresh controversy.

  • Telangana employees oppose AP natives’ demand
  • Say seeking nativity of both statesillogical, impractical

There is nothing wrong in seeking AP nativity by virtue of place of birth of parent, but they should not insist on nativity of another State, felt Telangana government staff. "Nativity of any individual should be considered based on the nativity of his or her parents.

They can rightfully demand AP nativity and we extend our support. However, seeking nativity of Telangana also is not acceptable," said TNGO president K Ravindar Reddy. He further added that no individual was entitled to have two nativity options in our country.

"AP staff should give up dual nativity thought, since it is bound to hit employment and educational opportunities of students of Telangana," he said. Meanwhile, TNGOs Honorary president G Deviprasad stated that nativity of any State would be decided by Legislature and Government in that particular State.

Neither any neighbouring State nor Centre could frame nativity definition of another State. Meanwhile, Telangana Gazetted Officers Central Association Organising Secretary Syed Saleemuddin criticised APNGOs' Association fresh stand on nativity. It is an irrational and illogical argument with regard to assigning dual nativity to the children of AP employees.
