Mahabubabad (Warangal): TRS MLA B Shankar Naik faced the wrath of villagers over the alleged diversion of funds meant for the development of Narayanapuram village under Mahabubabad Assembly segment.
The incident took place at Narayanapuram village in Nellikuduru mandal on Sunday. MP A Seetaram Naik had adopted the village under Pradhan Manthri Gram Sansad Yojana. The MP, along with the MLA Shankar attended Grama Jyothi meeting.
While addressing the gathering, Telangana Sarpanches Forum leader and village Sarpanch Yakub Reddy raised objection over the alleged funds diversion by the MLA. He accused Shankar Naik of diverting funds to the Mupparam village, adopted by the MLA under Grama Jyothi.
In his speech, Yakub Reddy complained that the MLA has shifted the sub-station, sanctioned to their village to address power shortage problem, was shifted to Mupparam village.
Reacting to the allegation, the MLA made caustic remarks against Yakub Reddy as well as the residents of Narayanapuram village. Strongly objecting to the MLA’s remarks, the villagers and Yakub Reddy entered into heated arguments with each other. MP Seetaram Naik and the officials intervened and persuaded the protesting villagers to calm down.
