Hyderabad: Governor E S L Narsimhan exhorted the people of Telangana to put in persistent efforts to develop their villages through Grama Jyothi, the flagship programme of the Telangana government, carefully crafted for rural development.

The Governor attended the programme at Kishan Nagar under Faruqnagar mandal in Mahbubnagar district on Monday along with ministers K T Rama Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, TRS MP Jithender Reddy, MLAs Srinivas Goud, Anjaiah, Balraj and other officials.

On the occasion, the Governor planted a sapling on the premises of a local school and interacted with the people on crops, business and Self-Help Groups’ performance and so on.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said the State government was coming up with many welfare schemes, which the people should make use of and develop their respective villages economically.

“Every family should send their wards to schools without fail and give them better future,” he said. On coming to know that Self-Help Groups were getting Rs 5 lakh loans, the Governor hoped that the women had the capacity and potential to bring a significant change in the society for better future.

The State government launched the Grama Jyothi programme for achieving all-round progress and growth, he said, adding that in the next four years, Telangana would become a State sans unemployed youth.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao enquired with the people about their problems, especially about the availability of onions. He also asked the officials to ensure that the villages got all basic amenities by implementing various schemes of welfare and development.
