Speaking to the mediapersons here on Monday, the organisation's president G Jhansi said POW took several decisions with regard to the new liquor policy in its meeting held on Sunday. She said the organisation demands the K Chandrasekhar Rao's government withdraw the policy immediately and scrap liquor shops near schools and temples.
The POW also demanded that the State government initiate steps towards complete abolition of liquor trade in the State. She demanded the State government to allot funds and staff to solve the domestic violence cases within three months, and set up fast track courts to solve the cases pending in family courts.
She also demanded that the government register 'Nirbhaya' cases against leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had stated that women were seeking 'gang rape' cases intentionally. It has further condemned the delay tactics of the Telangana state government in appointing Telangana Mahila Commission and demanded that the latter appoint TMC immediately.
It also said it would extend total solidarity to the nationwide strike by labour unions on September 2. POW General Secretary Ch Aruna, Vice-President K Rama, Assistant Secretary Jaya, executive members Laxmi Bai, Lalitha, Jhansi participated in the meeting.
