Cong to press for no-trust move against Speaker, Chairman
The Congress Legislature Party has decided to move a ‘No Confidence Motion’ against Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary and Council Chairman Swamy Goud if they fail to take action against the MLAs who defected to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Hyderabad: The Congress Legislature Party has decided to move a ‘No Confidence Motion’ against Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary and Council Chairman Swamy Goud if they fail to take action against the MLAs who defected to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Briefing the media persons, CLP Secretary T Ram Mohan Reddy said that the Speaker and Chairman have failed to act on several representations made by the Congress party against the MLAs who defected to TRS. Similar representations were made by the TDP.
The MLAs have been continuing in the post despite defecting to TRS without fearing any action under the Anti-Defection Law. Continuance of Talasani Srinivas Yadav as Cabinet Minister despite being a TDP MLA has brought shame to the entire legislature.
The Speaker had even refused to accept the notice sent by the High Court on the issue, he said. The CLP also demanded the State Government to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those farmers who committed suicide due to farm-related reasons. It passed a resolution seeking compensation of Rs 5 lakh for farmers' families. It further said that the State Government should revise GO 421 to increase the compensation amount from present Rs 1.5 lakh.
Expressing deep concern over the rising suicides by farmers, the CLP slammed the TRS Government for not taking appropriate measures to stop the suicides. It also demanded that the forthcoming Assembly session should be held for 20 days. The party would make this demand during the meeting of Business Advisory Committee.
During the three-and-a-half hour meeting, the CLP also discussed the failures of TRS Government, especially in the education sector. It accused the TRS Government playing with the lives and careers of thousands of students by not implementing the fee reimbursement scheme.
It decided to take on the government for not implementing the promise of giving 12% reservation to Muslims and Scheduled Tribes. The CLP meeting was attended by Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, MPs Gutha Sukhender Reddy, R Anand Bhaskar and M A Khan.
