Hyderabad: One woman pilgrim from Hyderabad was killed in the stampede in the holy city of Mecca on Thursday.According to Telangana State Haj Committee, the victim,

60-year-old Bibi Jaan of Mansurabad in L B Nagar, was injured in the stampede while carrying out a symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina.

After performing Haj along with her husband Abdul Majeed and two other relatives, Bibi Jaan had returned to Mina from Muzdalfa.

She was admitted to a hospital where she succumbed to injuries. She was a resident of LB Nagar in the city and had gone for Haj pilgrimage on September 2.

According to SHC Special Officer Prof. S.A.Shukoor, all Khadim-ul- Hujjaj have been put on alert and have been directed to report the status of all pilgrims by visiting all the camps.

Three Khadim-ul-Hujjaj have been deputed at the hospitals where injured pilgrims were admitted so as to locate and identify those who went from Hyderabad Embarkation Point.

Meanwhile, the SHC has started a 24x7 helpline with the numbers: 040-23214125 for Telangana, 040-23298793 for Andhra Pradesh pilgrims.

Haj Committee of India too has started a helpline at its headquarters in Mumbai with the numbers: 022-22717100/ 22717102 to provide information about the pilgrims.

Counsel General India reportedly informed the HCI that the stampede took place at "Sharah Jadeed" where pilgrims from African countries were accommodated. The pilgrims from India have been provided accommodation at Sauq-ul-Arab Street and Jawahera Street.

Meanwhile, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the State Minorities Welfare Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Non Resident Indian Affairs Secretary M K Meena were asked to gather the addresses and other information related to the Haj pilgrims from the State, to contact them.

A total of 5, 419 pilgrims were reportedly went on Haj pilgrimage from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, the officials said.
